Sichuan Earthquake

Click on the picture to see larger image

It has been tragic for the past couple of weeks. Many lives have been lost, many families have been broken, many houses tarnished but the most important of all, this will be remembered. As the world was shocked not only by the disastrous earthquake, but by the strength of the Chinese people around the world. The moment where the Chinese spirit is being once again lifted over it's horizon and changed the perception of the world. The spirit of cooperation and might, that touched the world.

I was touched by the stories told, by the contributions made, by the efforts delivered, by the videos watched (in youtube) and by the united hearts of the people. The MM department gives their condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and their utmost support to the survivors. Hoping they will lead better lives in the future.

The One Academy has also launched it's latest fund raising campaign called CARE. It is a long-term charity project and is currently holding it's Sichuan Quake Relief Fund. With every donation of RM100, donors will receive a CARE t-shirt or a set of 10 pieces of CARE postcards. Visit the website (http://www.toa.edu.my/care) for more information. Let us stand together and give our love to those who needs it most.

The 512 earthquake will forever be remembered and will prove to the world that the Chinese spirit will never fade. Click on the image below to view the video compiled by MM department for the Charity Project.

CG & Digital Art Exhibition

The CG & Digital Art Exhibition was a success. Nevertheless, it's as stressful as can be. It was a 4 days event held at the Convention Hall in Mid Valley, from the 8th to 11th of May. I had to work my ass off for 4 full days and plus 1 tiring day for setting up. Well, all went well, and was worth the work.

Illustration Workshop

The event had quite a few things to look at. There were lots of Students' works, Demonstrations on some digital art stuff, Informative seminars, freaking cosplay competitions, Jedi masters fighting each other for crowd, Asian height Alien, Hands on workshops & more.

Model posing for Life Drawing

Cosplayers & crowd...iishh!

Tatsun mentioned that this is the biggest exhibition The One Academy has ever had since 10 years ago and this time it has turned international standard. Hmm..personally and honestly speaking, NO! I have to object to that statement. Well, ok saying that it's not international is a little mean, but well, so so lar.... At least we had Vendetta and Predator as our mascot standing in front of the TOA sign promoting for us. Now, that is cool!!

Vendetta & Predator
"Die.. Lim Kok Wing!!"

Some of the people from our deparment had to contribute a little to this event. During the 4 days there were shifts but unfortunately no shifts for me, Wai Khong & Tuck Loong lah.

Wai Khong, Joanne & Mr. Incredible

Kian Leong, Tuck Loong & CCD Camera

Hey hey! Everyone posed with their own artworks. Ooo.. nice nice!.

Me & my Sorry Campaign

Boon Keat & his Played Boys

Yi Wei & his 'Sui' project

Stii (Edwin) & his I Love Dogs

I had to take care of the Multimedia side of Posters & Installation Design area, along with Wai Khong & Tuck Loong. I had to help Stii demonstrate his freakin awesome project "I Love Dogs" for the first two days, and that alone had already given me nightmares at night. Bobby, Stop Barking! That music is in my head~ get it out!!

Stii's project was a sensation at the event. The kids went crazy with Bobby, the pup. You can see all those kids so happily playing and torturing Bobby in an interactive way. Their expressions were priceless.

My nightmare 'Bobby' & creator Stii (Edwin)

Damn you, Stii. You've done another great job!!!

Office Craze: Cardboard Fever

Supposingly we are going to clean up the mess we made from the bulletin board decorations. But, we found fun doing it differently. We had a cardboard fever going on in the department.

Cina Eyes

With the handsome looking eyes drawn by Kian Leong (modeled after himself), everyone gave it a different identity with their mouth gestures. Joanne had loads of ideas for this set of eyes.

Idea.. *bing bing bing

So, what do you do when you have an empty cardboard frame on the table?

Well, Green screen PHOTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! weeeee~~

SK front portrait

KL & his bulb on frame

VT with senget left frame

Me with senget right frame

JK & SK portrait

VT, KL & SK portrait

And lastly, it was around 4.30pm when the department gets a little hungry. So, as usual Kian Leong has food in his mouth, even though the photoshoot was still going on.

Hmm... dried pineapple

MM Dept Bulletin Deco

It's the first week of this semester's class. All the students are back from their good ol holidays. It's also time to redecorate the bulletin board outside our Multimedia Department. To get started we needed to prepare the following stuff:

Thread

Cardboard

A team of people

Well, everyone got to work at once. Using limited resources we had to come out with something right away. We had different people working on different things.

Some drew

Some cut & kacaued

Some kacaued back & hammered

Some hanged

While some pulled

And finally everything was kinda done. With our maggi mee idea of recycling and getting rid of the department's trash, it wasn't that bad. Here is the design lead with her art piece.

Now, everything was finished. We wanted to clean up the trash in the department and turn it to something creative, but ironically looks like we did the opposite. Oopsie.. Time to clean up!

What a big mess!

Time to run away from the mess!!!

My Graduation Ceremony

My Graduation Ceremony was held on the 26 April 2008. At the Sheraton Subang Hotel. Everything on me was brand new except for my spectacles. I've never dressed up so formally in my entire life, so I guess this is one time I can really brag about.
I got myself a new suit, customarily designed by Cantwo's Leone, a Topshop black slim tie, a grayish brown Padini shirt and a pair of Polo leather shoes. All I needed was a little snip for my hair and I'm good to go.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I had to dress up in the Academic Robes and it's ugly looking mortarboard. Had my pictures taken and ready to march into the hall.

Finally, the day to get my diploma was here. The moment where it ends to be a student and ready to go out to tackle the industry. I had mixed emotions on that day, provided I was quite confused and frustrated. Walking around wearing that awkward smile I had, really couldn't escape mommy's sixth sense. Well, it is quite unfair to say that I felt weird or unhappy entirely, but having to see my friends and colleagues at the graduation, had honestly made me felt very happy at the same time. Here are some pictures to share:
