Disney•Pixar's UP Official Site (Malaysia)

Introducing Disney•Pixar's UP Malaysian Official Site. One of our clients, Buena Vista has finally launched our latest design. I'm not sure whether how they are going to promote this website, but I can tell you that, It's launched!! Ta-da!

Hey, how come it looks so damn familiar? Well, it's because the official site's design is based on TOA's Creative Media Award Website design (click here to view), which is also designed by me and Mafex. Why do people wanna see the same design on two different sites? Actually there are some differences in terms of content and design elements. Here is the link to the site (http://www.cinema.com.my/up).

Here are a few new features we've included:

A little survey form to start the adventure.

Wallpapers of various resolutions to download.

The cutest screensavers in the world (You've gotta download the doggy's one)

And also UP games for more fun and interactivity

Other features include movie stills, synopsis and new trailers for your entertainment. It's worth a look out and please do leave some comments for me. I'd really appreciate all the support. One of my proud projects and another portfolio added. *cling cling!

10 K.L Survival Skills

I have been staying in K.L for around 4.5 years. I still remembered the first time I stepped into college, I was a little Kampung Kuching boy, who didn't know much. Always very positive and cheerful about the things around me. Until everything turned a little gray as time passed. Seeing different people, lifestyles and unwelcoming sights. Anyways, back to the point.
Here are my 10 K.L Survival Skills:

1. Don't trust anyone

Even if you have very very close & friendly friend , still you have to be doubtful. It's a dog-eat-dog world. When someone is good to you, there's always a catch somewhere. Most people think of themselves first, so you should do the same too. To protect yourself from getting cheated or bullied or even played. Don't trust. Think twice before action.

2. Run when crossing the road
Yes, you heard me. RUN! Pedestrian crossings are drawn for fun in K.L. It's a playground mark for cars here. They seem to function differently compared to other international pedestrian crossings, as cars here tend to accelerate when they see someone on it. I guess Malaysians see these crossings as a Finished Line flag. So Run For Your Lives!!

3. Curse when driving
Malaysians are cute drivers. They are the most inconsiderate animals alive on the road. They tend to slow down their cars to see an accident on the road. No matter if it's in a small lorong or on the highspeed highway. They automatically slow down and block the whole stretch of traffic. It's really stressful driving here, if you don't curse, you'll go insane in your car. So, use whatever you can but please leave those words in your car. Thank You! Honk!

4. Don't Give Way
As cruel as you can get. Don't give way. Know how big is your car and it's rotating radius. Keep your car as close as you can to the one in front of you. Don't give anyone the chance to cut you or else you'll end up being the most considerate person to the overtakers and everyone will contribute their honk sounds to you from behind.

5. Cut your way in traffic
It saves time, and yes it's very ironic. After what I've wrote above. Your skill of cutting your way through traffic really saves a lot of time. But there are limits to your cutting skills. Don't simply cut. Always remember the 3 rules of driving: Estimate, Predict & Accelerate. The only thing you need to worry next, is finding a parking slot. Shit~

6. Say NO to charity workers beside the road
We always have doubts about these charities. We don't know if they're real. They just happen to pop by you when you're enjoying your lunch in the mall and worst of all, they mostly target students and couples. It's better to say NO to them, as they keep talking nonstop once you allow them to start. It kinds of spoils the mood for charity, especially during your precious lunchtime and only hour out of the office.

7. Don't lend your handphone to anyone
I've heard too many stories of people losing their handphones. Besides dropping it into the toilet bowl, the most common ones come from snatch thefts. Clever snatch thefts to be exact. These theives borrows your handphone for a call, and after they make a call, they ask for another and then runs off with it. So, the tip here is, give them some change and ask them to use the public phone. If they resist, just walk away, they can't do anything in public.

8. Always have your handphone charged
The most important thing in today's lives, is the cellphone. This invention plays a very important role in our eveyday communication and emergency calls. It's always a good practice to check your handphone once in a while. Who knows, someone might need your help once in a while or you may have an important appointment that you missed out. When you're in an emergency, the handphone comes in handy. So, charge your phone, NOW!

9. No need to pay saman
We hear this often. No need to pay saman, especially MPSJ's parking saman. I've checked with the locals and 90% of them do not pay their parking samans. Even if they've received a notice. I wonder why. But it sounds trendy, so I just follow lah. Saves me a heck of time and money too. But please pay your police saman. No double parking, No coming out from No Entry signs. The police here don't like to catch murderers or thieves, they like to catch double parkers.

10. Walk more, if you can
Very seldom do we get a good exercise except going up and down the office stairs or walking around the mall. So, turning the negative side of being unable to find a parking space upside down, we can park our car from a distance and walk to the office. It saves you some parking money and also petrol fee from going round and round the lot. Find some excuses to walk more. It's good for your health.

Sony Ericsson T700

Sony Ericsson - A brand name that speaks for itself. Name of a crystal glass with a diamond quality. No, that is not Sony Ericsson but some crappy phrase that came out from my mind all of a sudden. Having being paranoid for a day, I finally have the nerve to take out some money to get myself a new phone.

I really can't stand the tension and feeling of having a serious case of nomophobia and anxiety in my head. It's killing me like chicken pox on a weeny. Anyways, I got myself something that isn't more than RM600 (cuz poor la...ish).. Ta da... Sony Ericsson T700. Finally, an excuse to take photographs again.

Me and Fann have actually targeted this phone since it's first launch. But to no good reason to change and buy, we didn't take another good look at it, after tons of researches and going to Sony Ericsson shops to feel it.

Here, we have the T700 out of the box. All functions and specs listed on the exterior of the box. 3.2 MP camera, clear loud speak, 3G, comes with 512mb card and earphones. Nothing much fancy, just all of what a basic phone needs. It has a 2-inch display screen with a 240x320 pixels dimension. According to SE, this phone supports up to 8GB of memory.

This phone comes in three color combination. Black on Silver, Silver and Black on Red. Guess everyone knows what I'm gonna choose right? hehe.. Basically, spending less than an hour to get these pictures taken before the dust gets to my new phone. Let me play with my phone while you enjoy the pictures. Cheers.

Nomophobic Experience

Can you imagine a day without your handphone? I told myself before a long time ago that I could, even for a week. But that very day that challenged what I've said was here. It was today! On the 6th of June 2009. It has been the most shocking thing that has happened since Michael Jackson's death. My dear Nokia 5310 blacked out all of a sudden. I thought I didn't charge the phone, but terror appeared once it was switched on.

The phone went nuts on it's own, switching from profile to profile by it's own. Then it blacked out and died. I was so freaking scared what's gonna happen to me in the next few minutes. I now can officially say that I am a nomophobic person! Aaargh. I can't even live a minute without my phone. I can't think straight, I can't call my girlfriend, I can't sms, I can't check the damn time (even though I have a freakin swatch on my wrist), all was at lost when my phone died. I was in a terrible shock. I felt like I was going to die right in my very office. Just right there, no phone! bam! die! That was the feeling.

What is nomophobia you might ask? Well, if my experience above doesn't give you a clear picture. Here's some extracts from wikipedia: "Nomophobia is the fear of being out of mobile phone contact. The term, an abbreviation for 'no-mobile-phone phobia'". I think most of us today are nomophobic. Yes, you. Don't lie. I'm proud to be one as I'm proud to be technological savvy (yeah right!), so you should be too. Haha..

Shit.. The phone's restarting on it's own again. I can't stand the Nokia jingle. Deng deng deng deng dang! **** You NOKIA! aaargh....

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Terrible Movie

One of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. Not only has it spoilt my childhood, it too brought embarrassment to the theaters. The only win thing about this movie is hot chick, Megan Fox and those nice movie posters they have. Other than that, too bad, it sucks. An unplanned plot with overlong effects. A rip off film once again, Thanks Michael Bay!

Transformers: First Generation
First aired on television in 1984

I'm one of the biggest fan of transformers (back in the 80s and 90s). Grew up with their cartoons, toys and comics. Nevertheless, the original Transformers was the best. Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Jazz, Ironhide, etc. I still remembered back then, my brother was a big fan of the Autobots (most particularly Optimus Prime), while I was the fan of the Decepticons. We had numerous transformers toys and my brother currently owns about 3 Optimus Primes including a Master Piece limited edition. Missed the good old days, until this movie spoilt it all.

Sorry to all those who loved this movie, but still things have to be said. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it only rates 20% fresh.

Here are my favourite Top 5 Movie critics about this movie:
  1. "I said the first film is a teenage boy's wet dream. This sequel is just masturbation. "
by Jeff Bayer, The scorecard review

  2. "More robotic nonsense. "
    by Charles Koplinski, Illinois Times

  3. "...takes everything that was bad about the first Transformers movie two years ago, and amplifies it to deafening proportions "
by James Kendrick, Q Network Film Desk

  4. "Call me old fashioned, but I like a little side story and character to go along with my order of big, loud special effects. "
    by James Berardinelli, Reelviews

  5. "Transformer = Terminator + "Species" + Star Trek + Alien vs Predator ==> Damn! It's freaking no stories kind of movie. Roll eyes! Damn Rolleyes! All the ancestors of Transformer looks like Decepticons! So, which means everybody is bad at first. I felt Transformers were all "polluted" already. Where's the originality of characters and stories? Nevermind. I enjoyed "Wolverine" more."
by Leong Wai Khong, The One Academy
